Learning to Drive - Automatic Tuition

Biting point?
Clutch control?
Stalling?
There's never been a better time to learn to drive in an automatic car. The latest "Hybrid" and Electric cars are fully kitted out with automatic gearboxes, and with the way car technology is progressing, it wont be long until these Electric Automatic vehicles are commonplace on our roads.
Learning to drive an Automatic car means less focus on clutch use and gears, and more focus on your safety and your knowledge of the rules of the road, as well as allowing you to concentrate more on the ever-present hazards during your journey.
Some drivers find driving an automatic car less stressful in city center enviroments and stop start traffic, and the fact you dont need to rely on clutch control means it's definately smoother. It's also less demanding on you as a driver to control an automatic car compared to a manual, making your learning experience a relaxing one!

Sounds too easy...
Well, it's not always quicker or easier to learn in a car with Automatic transmission compared to Manual, and an automatic car will always cost a little bit more compared to its manual counterpart. You may see yourself using more fuel than in a manual car as the car works harder to change the gears for you.
Another point to note is that if you pass your test in an Automatic car, you will only be allowed to drive automatic cars. If you pass your test in a Manual car you can drive both Automatic and Manual cars.
So what do I choose?
The truth is there will be no "One-size-fits-all" answer, its simply whichever you prefer, feel free to start in either auto or manual and swap if you dont feel comfortable, but also think about what driving you will do once you have passed your test - the commute to work, driving as a job, or simply nipping down to the shops for groceries.
